Most women own more lingerie than they wear. The pieces at the back of the drawer are usually the ones bought in a hurry, on sale, or because the colour seemed interesting at the time. The pieces worn every day are usually three or four items that fit correctly and feel good. This is not a coincidence.

The cost-per-wear argument

A ¥5,000 bralette worn twice and then abandoned costs ¥2,500 per wear. A ¥26,000 bralette worn 200 times costs ¥130 per wear. The arithmetic is straightforward. The difficulty is that the ¥5,000 option feels less risky at the point of purchase. It is not. It is more expensive in the long run and generates more waste.

How to assess what you actually wear

Take everything out of your lingerie drawer and put it on the bed. Separate it into two piles: things you reach for without thinking, and things you have reasons for not wearing. The second pile is almost always larger. The reasons are usually fit, comfort, or colour. None of these are small problems. A piece you do not wear because it is slightly uncomfortable is a piece you will never wear.

What a considered lingerie wardrobe looks like

Three to five pieces that fit correctly and that you wear in rotation. One or two pieces for occasions that require something specific. Nothing else. The exact pieces depend on your body and your wardrobe, but the principle is the same. At Mind Tech Lab Wave, we make pieces intended to be worn regularly for several years, not to be replaced each season.

When to replace a piece

Replace a piece when the elastic has gone, when the fabric has thinned at the stress points, or when the fit has changed because your body has changed. Not because a new colourway has launched, not because it is on sale, and not because you have owned it for a specific number of years. Wear it until it is done.

We make 60 of each colourway. We would rather you bought one piece that you wear for three years than three pieces you wear twice each. That is not a sales strategy. It is just the honest position.
